Lyle Z. is currently in his third module in the Certificate in Network Security program. He talks about why he chose this particular field and his plans after graduation.
CHARTER SUCCESS (CS): What did you do before Charter College?
LYLE: About ten years ago, when I was just out of high school, I worked with my hands in general warehousing jobs. I could feel the toll of general labor and what it was doing to my body. I needed to make a fresh start in a new career with something my body could handle. I was always fond of computers and knew that it would be a good career to go for. I knew I would enjoy it.
CS: Why did you choose network security?
A lot of people don’t know about viruses and the different ways a hacker can attack your computer and information. This field really intrigues me. I want to help people with their information on computers.
CS: How is your education at Charter College going so far?
LYLE: It’s going good so far. The online courses and online instructors are very helpful. The information is clear and easy to follow. I’m enjoying it and learning a lot.
CS: What is motivating you to be successful?
LYLE: My wife, nine year old daughter and four year old son. I have a good support team behind me and they motivate and help push me to complete my education. I also want to be a good example to my friends and family and inspire them to go to college.
CS: What do you like to do in your free time?
LYLE: I love sports and spending time with my family. I also love learning about the new technology. It’s really mind blowing with all of the new phones, computers and video games.
CS: Do you have any advice for our new students who are starting at Charter College?
LYLE: Enjoy yourself and trust the Charter College staff. They’re excellent and have always helped me. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
CS: What are your plans after Charter College?
LYLE: My plan is to eventually work for a reputable medium size company in Las Vegas or Long Beach. Having a steady job will help with a down payment on a home and living the American dream.
